Especially formulated for those with extra dry skin, eczema or psoriasis, our Repair! soap is an amazingly gentle and nurturing all-natural and all-vegetable soap
with Goats Milk, Shea Butter, Calendula Blossoms and Oil, Oatmeal, Tamanu Oil, Avocado Oil, Neem Oil, Nettle Leaf and Seeds,
Arnica, Jojoba Oil, Tilio Leaf and Vitamin E. We have gathered these ingredients from all over the world.
Calendula—also known as the marigold flower—has for centuries
been used for skin care and medicinally for soothing inflammation, controlling bleeding and healing damaged tissue. Ideal
for dry, dehydrated, irritated and delicate skin, Calendula’s healing properties have been used to provide relief for
eczema, diaper rash, burns, acne, and other minor injuries and skin problems as well as fighting the signs of aging. Its essential
oils and acids are reported to be antimicrobial and anti-oxidizing agents. This soap contains calendula blossoms, oil and
extract. People from many cultures claim that Tamanu
Oil (Calophyllum tacamahaca, a tree from tropical SE Asia and Polynesia) has anti-neuralgic, anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial,
antibiotic and antioxidant properties; the thick, dark oil is harvested and cold-pressed from the nut of an apple-like fruit.
Pacific islanders use Tamanu oil to treat joint pains, arthritis, bruises, cuts, abrasions, burns, rashes, scars and as an
analgesic for sciatica, rheumatism and ulcers. Tamanu oil reportedly promotes new tissue formation, accelerating healing and
healthy skin growth, and contains powerful bactericide and fungicide agents that defeat human and animal pathogens.
Nettle (Urtica dioica or pilulifera), known
as “isirgan” in Turkey, is a highly nutritious herb containing nutrients such as iron, potassium, magnesium, Vitamins
K and A, calcium, and other minerals. In additional to its internal uses for many medicinal purposes, nettle is used externally
in many cultures for inflammatory skin conditions, chronic eczema, arthritis and rheumatic pain, sciatica, neuralgia as well
as burns and insect bites, as it has a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory effect. It is moisturizing and tones the skin
and scalp. Our soap recipe uses ground nettle seeds and wildcrafted nettle leaf extract.
Oatmeal has been used for many years to relieve skin irritations, such as
psoriasis and eczema. Oatmeal is produced from finely ground oats and has exceptional skin soothing and anti-inflammatory
properties.
Finely ground oatmeal in our Repair!
soap serves as a gentle exfoliant to soothe and remove dry and flaking skin and to stimulate skin circulation.
Neem Oil is pressed from the fruits and seeds of Azadirachta
Indica, an evergreen tree native to India, and contains many natural fatty acids
such as Omega-6, Omega-9, Omega-3 and Palmitic Acid. It has been used for centuries in Ayurvedic traditional medicine to treat
skin diseases and inflammations.
Arnica (Arnica
Montana) is a flowering plant native to Europe whose roots contain thymol, a powerful anti-inflammatory when applied topically.
Medical studies have shown that Arnica assists normal healing processes by helping to transport accumulations of blood and
fluid that have built up by helping to dilate blood capillaries just beneath the skin.
Tilio (Greek mountain herbal tea) comes from the flowers and leaves of a large
tree-like bush (sometimes called the lime tree) found in Crete and areas of Greece. As a tea, it is believe to relax the body
by improving blood circulation and lowering blood pressure. It is also used in lotions and creams and is considered therapetic
for the skin.
Our
Repair! soap is a creamy golden brown color and comes in a 4-ounce rectangular bar in a Ferns or Celtic knot design.
We do not add any additional fragrance, and so its pleasant mild scent comes from the natural scents of the above ingredients.
Note: Since the tamanu
oil is harvested from the nut of the tamanu tree, those with nut allergies may need to use it with caution. We do not know
if it causes the same reaction as other kinds of nuts.
