Greenberry’s Repair! Soap contains the natural healing agents
of Wild Pistachio, Calendula, Tamanu Oil, Nettle and Oatmeal especially formulated for those with extra dry skin, eczema or
psoriasis. NEW! Now in a goats milk and shea butter base with added botanicals such as jojoba, emu oil, arnica, and
Vitamin E.
Wild Pistachio seeds
(Pistacia terebinthius), also known as "bittim" in its native Turkey, come from the terebinth tree found in southeast
Anatolia. Medical articles have been written about its anti-inflammatory properties, and bittim soap is a traditional folk
product of Turkey due to its skin-friendly properties.
Calendula—also known as the marigold flower—has for centuries been used for skin care
and medicinally for soothing inflammation, controlling bleeding and healing damaged tissue. Ideal for dry, dehydrated, irritated
and delicate skin, Calendula’s healing properties have been used to provide relief for eczema, diaper rash, burns, acne,
and other minor injuries and skin problems as well as fighting the signs of aging. Its essential oils and acids are reported
to be antimicrobial and anti-oxidizing agents. This soap contains calendula oil and/or extract.
People from many cultures claim that Tamanu Oil (Calophyllum tacamahaca, a
tree from tropical SE Asia and Polynesia) has anti-neuralgic, anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, antibiotic and antioxidant
properties; the thick, dark oil is harvested and cold-pressed from the nut of an apple-like fruit. Pacific islanders use Tamanu
oil to treat joint pains, arthritis, bruises, cuts, abrasions, burns, rashes, scars and as an analgesic for sciatica, rheumatism
and ulcers. Tamanu oil reportedly promotes new tissue formation, accelerating healing and healthy skin growth, and contains
powerful bactericide and fungicide agents that defeat human and animal pathogens.
Nettle (Urtica dioica or pilulifera), known as “isirgan” in Turkey,
is a highly nutritious herb containing nutrients such as iron, potassium, magnesium, Vitamins K and A, calcium, and other
minerals. In additional to its internal uses for many medicinal purposes, nettle is used externally in many cultures for inflammatory
skin conditions, chronic eczema, arthritis and rheumatic pain, sciatica, neuralgia as well as burns and insect bites, as it
has a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory effect. It is moisturizing and tones the skin and scalp. Our soap recipe uses
ground nettle seeds.
Oatmeal has
been used for many years to relieve skin irritations, such as psoriasis and eczema. Oatmeal is produced from finely ground
oats and has exceptional skin soothing and anti-inflammatory properties.
Finely ground oatmeal in our Repair! soap serves as a gentle exfoliant to soothe and remove dry and flaking skin
and to stimulate skin circulation.
Our Repair! soap
is a creamy golden brown color and comes in a 4-ounce rectangular bar in a Ferns or Celtic knot design. It is
unscented with any special fragrance, and so its pleasant mild scent comes from the natural scents of the above ingredients.
Note: Since the tamanu oil is harvested from the nut of the tamanu tree, those with nut allergies
may need to use it with caution.
