Calendula—also known as the marigold flower—has for centuries been used for skin care and medicinally
for soothing inflammation, controlling bleeding and healing damaged tissue. Ideal for dry, dehydrated, irritated and delicate
skin, Calendula’s healing properties have been used to provide relief for eczema, diaper rash, burns, acne, and other
minor injuries and skin problems as well as fighting the signs of aging. Its essential oils and acids are reported to be antimicrobial
and anti-oxidizing agents. People from many cultures claim that Tamanu Oil (Calophyllum
tacamahaca, a tree from tropical SE Asia and Polynesia--also sometimes called Foraha Oil) has anti-neuralgic,
anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, antibiotic and antioxidant properties; the thick, dark oil is harvested and cold-pressed
from the nut of an apple-like fruit. Pacific islanders use Tamanu oil to treat joint pains, arthritis, bruises, cuts, abrasions,
burns, rashes, scars and as an analgesic for sciatica, rheumatism and ulcers. Tamanu oil reportedly promotes new tissue formation,
accelerating healing and healthy skin growth, and contains powerful bactericide and fungicide agents that defeat human and
animal pathogens. Because of the pleasant natural scent of the Calendula and Tamanu oils and to avoid adding anything that
might irritate sensitive skin, we have kept these products free of additional fragrances. This product also benefits from the addition of
Jojoba organic (Simmondsia chinensis) and Emu oil (Dromiceius novaehol-landiae).
Jojoba, very similar in composition to human natural skin oils, nourishes, softens and moisturizes mature and/or dry skin.
Jojoba may help to heal inflamed skin conditions such as psoriasis or any form of dermatitis. It also has anti-oxidant properties.
Our products contain 100% pure jojoba from Argentina, the extract of seeds produced by the jojoba plant which is expeller-pressed,
then pasteurized and filtered to prevent bacterial growth. It’s gentle enough for newborn babies and may soothe and
restore elasticity to any dry skin area or help with psoriasis. We use pure Emu oil from Australia, where for centuries, the
Australian aboriginal culture has been applying Emu oil to their wounds with excellent results. Today, it is being increasingly
added worldwide to foods, muscle pain relievers, skin care products, and natural soaps since it is reported to have anti-bacterial,
anti-inflammatory, and skin regenerative qualities. It has been used to help heal bed sores, assist with scar and stretch
mark prevention, provide sunburn relief, and help with arthritis pain and inflammation. Greenberry's Calendula Tamanu products
are available as a creamy buttery soap bar, a lotion (Refresh Plus!), and a thick, buttery body and face cream (Replenish Plus!)--and now in a special Repair! soap bar for problem and sensitive skin.
Our soap is in
a shea butter and goats milk base and contains calendula petals; the standard design is the Morning Glory or Celtic Knots
bar. It has the most buttery, marvelous texture of any of our soaps.
NEW! Our new
and improved Repair! soap is also now sharing the same rich and emollient shea butter and goats milk base with the
Calendula Tamanu soap. How is it different? Repair! now provides the added benefits of the wild pistachio, nettle
and other skin-friendly herbs as well as ground oatmeal. Our friends with eczema, psoriasis and other sensitive skin problems
have found it to be very helpful. Our exceptional Calendula Tamanu lotion and cream—our most popular products--are
in a goats milk, honey and shea butter base that is ultra-rich and leaves your skin feeling powdery and moist but not oily.
The added calendula, tamanu, jojoba, emu, aloe and Vitamin E provide rich botanical conditioners known for their healing properties. Note:
Since the tamanu oil is harvested from the nut of the tamanu tree, those with nut allergies may need to use it with caution.
