We'll be traveling in June and Greenberry's will be closed
Dear friends,
School
is out and summer is upon us! It's been such a busy and exciting spring, and now our family is preparing for a major trip
during the month of June. I and a teaching colleague are leading an educational travel program to the Czech Republic, Poland,
Hungary and France for 3 weeks, and the whole family is coming. It promises to be very exciting! Prague is my favorite city
in the world, and I am always eager to visit it again. I'll keep an eye out for interesting European soaps while I'm
traveling to get some new ideas.
Therefore, we will close up
shop for the month of June. Any orders received after June 4 will be filled promptly after we return at the end of the month.
In the meantime, if you anticipate that you'll need any supplies (creams, lotions,
body butters, soaps or oils) in the coming month, please place your order sooner rather than later. We look forward
to helping you with your skin care needs for summer!
Happy Spring! We
hope the weather where you live is as lovely as it is here in our part of Georgia, where the air is filled with pleasant scents
of blooming flowers and budding trees.
We want to let you know about some of the blossoming and growing that Greenberry
Soaps has been doing recently. We've expanded our product lines of handcrafted soaps, lotions, creams and oils and now
have a wider range of offerings and options than ever before.
In fact, you can now choose your own customized
soap or lotion fragrance from our Make Your Own Scentlist! We have lots and lots of new fragrances and essential oils, and we've created some very special new
blends such as Bergamot Heaven, Delicioso (Fruit and Floral), Lavender Ylang and Cedarwood Sage. We also have an expanded
range of fragrances for men, such as Tartan Plaid, Glacial Mountain
Lake and Irish Springtime.
Our Calendula Tamanu creams, soaps and
lotions have become our most popular items. This one-of-a kind formula has really special natural skin healing agents--tamanu
oil, calendula oil, jojoba, emu oil, vitamin E, aloe, shea butter and goats milk--that is wondrous on thirsty, mature skin
as well as skin with special needs (psoriasis, eczema, flaky or dry). The cream and lotion (a lighter version of the cream)
are moisturizing without being heavy or greasy. I've personally never used anything that feels so good on my skin. Guess
I'm getting "mature"!
We've also developed an even more heavy-duty Foot and Body Butterwith most of the same ingredients plus
some additional heavy-hitters like mango butter, kokum butter and rosehip oil. This is terrific for those extra-dry or damaged
patches as well for areas that need special work to prevent scarring or stretchmarks. I've also adapted it into a great
Belly Butter for moms-to be and new moms since its ingredients promote regeneration
and elasticity of skin cells.
Have
you seen our Bath Oils and Massage Oils? We can make those in any fragrance
you'd like. Also, many people are using these scented oils as a cologne of sorts--just rub on the wrists or the neck and
you smell great for hours.
Just listed! is a product line of gentle soaps and lotions
for babies and their moms and coming soo, I'll be developing a line for children, too--I'm finding
that little girls in particular love our soaps that make them "smell like a princess"!
Don't forget
that everything we do is for you--so if you have any special requests, desires, or custom orders, we'll be glad to work
with you to create just what you need. We love to create gift bags or baskets, and we are especially looking forward to creating
some special Mother's Day combination gift sets for you
Please explore our website to see our range of items, and be sure to email me if you have any special requests.
I've decided to start a blog so that I can let everyone know what's new and
what I've been experimenting with and developing from week to week. Since I started selling a line of soaps a few months
ago, it seems that since there are so many associated skin and bath products that everyone wants, I've decided to expand
and create new products to meet customer requests.
I'm learning so
much as I go along about how to blend different fragrances and other botanical products and how to create what I hope are
the highest quality products. After all, these products are for the precious skin of those I love--and so I want to only use
the finest and purest ingredients and try to stay as natural and organic as possible. I do that for two reasons--first, because
I believe that it's healthier for our skin and bodies, and second, because it is definitely healthier for our environment
if we can cut back on our use of harsh chemicals.
I'm so appreciative
of the loyal following that Greenberry is gaining--lots of returning customers who are really enjoying our soaps and creams
and lotions! It makes me really happy to know that I can help someone feel better on a daily basis. When I know that my Calendula
Tamanu cream is soothing and revitalizing--and most importantly, stopping that tight, itchy feeling--for those of
you who are soaking it up, like Jan, Niney and Tom, then I feel like maybe there's a good reason I started this business.
When I hear that your psoriasis is responding and your skin is feeling healthier, that really pleases me. When I know that,
every day, the scent of Lavender Herb Garden or Confederate Jasmine or Tangerine
Citrus Ginger is brightening your morning--or every time you wash your hands--then that makes me feel quite satisfied!
This week, my newest endeavor has been learning how to make bath oils and bath teas. I'm
not normally a bath person--I love them, but don't have the greatest tub for one--but after reading up on bath teas and
gathering some ingredients, I made a few bath tea bags and tried one out myself. It was Citrus Neroli, and
the "tea" contains various herbs that are supposed to help relax sore muscles, as well as some teas, blossoms and
dried fruits that I bought in Istanbul. I'd added a few drops of some essential oils for fragrance.
Now, I'd never tried a bath tea before, but it was marvelous! I filled up the tub and let
the bag soak and release a tea-colored infusion into the water. I squeezed it and worked the water through a little, and then
just couldn't stop smelling it--the smell was intoxicating. And then after soaking in it for 10 minutes or so, I felt
incredibly relaxed and really didn't want to get out--but the water was growing cold, and I had things to do and people
to see and papers to grade....
So yes, now I'm totally sold on bath
teas, and will make them to order for anyone.
My newest scent discovery
was upon the request of Karen, who asked if I had grapefruit. I had so many other citrus oils that I'd never tried grapefruit,
but I ordered a grapefruit-ginger oil blend from the supplier, and when it came the other day and I opened it, I was absolutely
hooked. The Tangerine Citrus Ginger (which had had Tangerine and Lime and May Chang/Litsea as citrus oils)
has always been my favorite, but now I'm going to add Grapefruit to the mix since it adds a little olfactory punch that
enriches the blend.
I'm also working on learning to make shower gels,
since my husband Dave and my Dad both prefer liquid soaps to bar soaps. I'll let you know how that goes.
Or use the form below and we will get back to you as soon as we can. We look forward to hearing
from you.
